FORD FALCON
In the 60s,
Ford Australia used the US-designed Falcon to bring the new wave
of family cars downunder. After the US dropped the car from it's
line up, Australia took over and designed it's own proper car for
our conditions. What has resulted is a long-time rival bestseller
to our General Motors division, Holden, with their Commodore
range. A very special version of the Falcon was released in the
early 80s called the ESP (European Sports Pack). These Falcons
were given special parts from Europe and an all-new, unique and
very nice paint job. Only 500 or so were made (I think). The GT
versions are the high-powered versions. The Fairmont is the
upmarket version, made here and in the US by Ford as two very
different cars.
